I make photographs as a way of moving beyond the familiar. It is my passport to worlds, inner and outer, that I wouldn’t otherwise reach. I’m drawn to the spaces in between looking and feeling, and to the subtle thresholds where perception shifts. My curiosity extends beyond what fits inside the frame, for what lies outside it shapes an image in invisible but powerful ways. I am particularly interested in people, their stories, gestures, and the quiet interplay between their inner landscapes and the ones they present to the world. My work is about authentic connections, and this is what I value most of all.

I began my career in academia, studying History of Art in Malta, before spending ten years with a local art organisation, researching, curating, and coordinating exhibitions and events. I learned how ideas and stories take shape in space, and how that shape can help guide a visitor’s experience. Over time, I gravitated toward photography and design, where the page and the picture frame became my primary space for exploration. I spent a year studying in Barcelona, which opened me up to new ways of seeing, being and creating. I like to live in a state of flow, open to change and malleability, allowing myself to be led by my intuition primarily and to move to my own rhythm and energy. I seek out and thrive in contrasting environments. I like to play with opposites and to approach them with curiosity and possibility. Order and chaos, light and dark. Movement, change and contrast keep my mind and heart open to the vibrancy of life, which ultimately informs my work.

My practice brings together my academic background in art history, together with my training in photography and design, as well as years of collaboration on projects with artists, curators, collectors, historians, students, friends, lovers and the wider circle of people whose lives have intersected with mine, however brief or long lasting. Since returning to the island, I’ve worked independently, primarily using photography and design, collaborating closely with creators to support and document creative processes, and to shape visual identities, narratives and stories.

My creative process often begins with a set of intentions and a list of desires, which form my blueprint for a project. From there, I explore and start to fill the spaces in between. Working primarily with images and text, I have a particular love for book design. I consider the journey a reader embarks on as they turn the pages. I like to think about books in relation to the human body, playing with texture, size and weight so as to guide the pace of a reader’s experience, and to use materials to play upon the senses.

I draw energy and motivation through collaboration, dialogue, and exchange of ideas. The meeting of different minds, hearts and souls intrigues and inspires me. I believe in community and the art of gathering, and I enjoy designing experiences and curating safe spaces for connection, creativity, openness and play. I find my inspiration in nature, travel, people, food, scents, light, colour, texture, sounds, music, images, books, film, as well as in the everyday rituals of life that bring a quiet sense of meaning to everything that I do.

I was born on the 22nd February 1986, and I currently live and work in Malta.
